A satisfying beat down of the Blues happened Wednesday night. It was 1-1 heading into the third period until Kris Versteeg buried a Jonathan Toews pass at the 59 second mark. The floodgates opened after that as Patrick Kane added two more tallies (both assisted by Versteeg). There’s not a whole lot to discuss with this one, it was a systematic ass kicking. Just a couple of points in the breakdown:

  • Kris Versteeg. Goodness, he was pretty good. Let’s trade him for cap space!
  • Barret Jackman sucks.
  • Andrew Shaw won 80% of his faceoffs. I have no clue how that is a thing, but it happened. If he plays in the bottom six and wins faceoffs like that it’ll be a nice help with his blackhole linemates.
  • One of his linemates is Bryan Bickell. I’m not sure if he was at the United Center tonight or not. I didn’t see him out there.
  • Antti Raanta was just fine tonight. By just fine I mean he was very good and made 39 saves. Not bad for a guy that hasn’t played since October.
  • The Blackhawks PK was unreal again. At times last year they were a disaster, but so far they’ve been damn near impenetrable.
  • How is it that the Blues justify Chris Porter, Ryan Reaves, and Max Lapierre? Dmitri Jaskin could easily help that club, but instead they stick a bunch of shit on a fourth line. Keep it going, guys.

I’ve got nothing else. Go read Slak’s Hatecap. I’m thrilled about the W and hope to see this confident squad light up Carey Price on Friday.
