It’s an old & bad Photoshop but I still kinda like it

Here come the Ducks..

The only team that the 2013 Blackhawks couldn’t solve roll up to the UC tonight in a similar position to last year, with the Hawks at the top of the League and Anaheim being among the leaders of the pursuing pack.

The Mighty Mallards are still top heavy, with the Penner-Getzlaf-Perry line doing most of the damage. However, the likes of Andrew Cogliano and Nick Bonino provide some quality depth and of course there is Teemu, who will almost certainly shake himself out of his 3 Goal Farewell-Tour-Funk to notch an annoying GA tonight because of course he will.

An already unimpressive Ducks Blueline corps was further denuded by long term injuries to Sheldon Souray and Luca Sbisa.¬†Francois Beauchemin is doubtful tonight, too. The Ducks have, in fact, been this year’s Ottawa Senators with their roster resembling a field Hospital. Mathieu Perrault and highly-rated Jakob Silfverberg are both on IR too.

Luckily for Anaheim, rookie Hampus Lindholm has stepped up well, as has Cam Fowler (when he’s not falling off the bench) But this could end up being a tough night for the Ducks D-men.

As ever, Bruce Boudreau will just roll his lines, as trying to get matchups would detract from his attempts to stuff an entire DiGiorno’s Pizza into his face in one go. Q, on the other hand, is likely to be a little more sensitive to the matchups: word is that Handzus is back in the lineup so what this means for how the Hawks’ lines are set up is anyone’s guess. Logic would dictate that Sheldon Brookbank is the odd-man-out, but of course it’ll be Jeremy Morin.

Antti Raanta gets the start t, which should provide us with a good look at how he deals with half-a-ton of Penner thumping into him while Corey Perry tries to remove his head.

The Hawks could do with a win tonight. Tall order against this outfit, but entirely doable. Nakis will be around later with yer recap.

Have fun and Let’s Go Hawks!
