Harold and Norvette, It was my pleasure to make this post in honor of a true hero. And I'm very glad the Blackhawks were able to give him a great experience.

Thank you for honoring my dad. We are so proud of him. He never talked about the war when we where young. He always thought of the men who didn't make it back and couldn't understand why he was saved. Now he is talking to schools and any one who will listen to him on how it was during those sad times. May God bless all the service men and woman and thank you for protecting us.
Thank you for recognizing a deserving man. I have talked with Mr Nelson at family gatherings and know that he was in the first group to clear the beach at Normandy for the invasion. He was the only one to survive in his sector. Even after his wounds healed he continued to serve in special ops in the North Sea as a Navy Frogman. I served in combat in Vietnam, and he is definitely my hero.
Thanks for posting that Jeff. may we never forget so many of our freedoms were balanced on the shoulders of men like Norval Nelson.
