The Daily Phil Esposito (3/10/11)

There were thirteen former ‘Hawks on the pond last night. The one goalie came back from a devastating eye injury (yea right), and took a huge loss, while the skaters provided just two points. One goal coming from the only Flame-r and one assist coming from an unlikely source ending a scoreless streak.
On other thoughts, I am unsure whether or not St. Louis’s goal was legal. I mean it was a great shot and move, but I think the puck stopped there for a second. Oh well, that just shows you need to be able to score in the shootout and not lay and egg… Enjoy today’s post.

Bryan McCabe – New York Rangers
16:26 TOI, two shots
Dustin Byfuglien – Atlanta
Scratched due to a lower-body injury sustained in practice Monday. I guess Nick Boynton is practicing with the Thrashers too.
Andrew Ladd – Atlanta
19:47 TOI, 0 of 1 on face-offs
Tuomo Ruutu – Carolina
20:52 TOI, minus one, 2 PIM, three shots, 0 of 1 on face-offs
Ethan Moreau – Columbus
6:43 TOI, one assist (5), plus one, one shot
Moreau’s first point since December 4th
Sammy Pahlsson – Columbus
16:28 TOI, minus one, 2 PIM, one shot, 12 of 17 on face-offs
Dan Cleary – Detroit
17:42 TOI, minus one, four shots
Rene Bourque – Calgary
20:48 TOI, one goal (23), plus one, 2 PIM, four shots
The Flame-rs beat the Stars in a shoot-out. Meaning the only positive out of this is that the Flames won in a shoot-out adding to their shootout win toaal. The Stars are now only one point behind the ‘Hawks, while the Flames have the same amount of points as the ‘Hawks but have only 28 wins that aren’t by a shootout while the Hawks have 32 so the Hawks retain the fourth spot, for now.
Colin Fraser – Edmonton
11:46 TOI, one shot, 2 of 9 on face-offs
Nikolai Khabibulin – Edmonton
Loss (27), 31 saves on 36 shots, .861 SV%
League leading 27th loss. This was his first game back since February 22nd due to an “eye” injury. I think his drunk ass took a shot of vodka and splashed it in his eye…
Jason Strudwick – Edmonton
16:06 TOI
Jim Vandermeer – Edmonton
22:27 TOI, minus one
Adam Burish – Dallas
13:17 TOI, minus one, one shot, 5 of 13 on face-offs
Michael Handzus – Los Angeles
17:24 TOI, 7 of 11 on face-offs
